Some know us as the American Legion San Dieguito Post 416, others as American Legion Post 416, or simply “The 416”. By any name, we have been a home for veterans and their families in Encinitas and the surrounding North County community since its founding in 1931. Chartered under the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization, Post 416 exists for one fundamental reason: to make sure no veteran walks alone. Whether you separated last year or served decades ago, whether you're navigating VA benefits, looking for connection, or simply need a place where people understand what service means - you belong here.

We embrace everyone who has worn the uniform, and their families, from all branches and all eras, and we work every day to support their transition, their families, and their wellbeing. Through selfless service, we honor those who gave everything, and we ensure that sacrifice is never forgotten by the generations that follow.

At The 416, we are veterans ourselves. Here you will find more than camaraderie. Our Legion Family, including the Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion (SAL), and the American Legion Riders (ALR), extends a circle of care and advocacy; serving spouses, children, and the broader community in the spirit of mutual helpfulness.
