Together, we make a difference

The American Legion Post 416 Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Encinitas, California. Our mission is to serve veterans, active duty service members, and our local San Dieguito community by funding vital programs that uphold American values, support youth development, and improve veterans’ lives.

As part of the nationally chartered American Legion, Post 416 works to advocate for patriotism, mentor youth, assist veterans in securing their benefits, promote civic engagement, and honor those who served. Whether it’s hosting remembrance ceremonies, offering a venue for local organizations, or guiding veterans through benefit claims, your support helps sustain a legacy of service and community leadership.

Donations of $100 or more will receive a donor acknowledgement upon request.

Post Commander - David Quessenberry

David is a retired U.S. Navy Reserve pilot who also had an illustrious civilian airline career as a pilot, retiring in 2024 as a Plane Captain. He & his wife Maureen were born and raised in this area, and together they have three adult boys, all of whom have been in the NFL. David became Post Commander just two short years ago and if you see him, be sure to say hello. Maureen is also very active with the Post as a volunteer.

George Serhan, American Legion Post 416 First Vice Commander

First Vice Commander - George Serhan

George is a 28‑year member of Post 416 and an Air Force veteran who served eight years, including a tour in Vietnam. His experience as an Air Policeman and K‑9 handler shaped a lifelong commitment to service. A retired businessman, he stays active as a past Director and the current Secretary of the American Legion Riders Chapter 416. He also helps keep the Post connected to nearby cities on veteran‑related programs. George is dedicated to making Post 416 a welcoming place for veterans and their families.
